1. Part-time job available: Neighborhood Security Position
The Lake Barcroft Association is seeking someone with security experience and DCJS training to be a part-time, Unarmed Security Guard. We need someone with their own vehicle who can patrol within the neighborhood working with the other LBA employees to improve the safety of the community. Hours initially would be about 25-30 hours/week; this will include night and weekend hours, but we are willing to work with an individual to come up with a flexible schedule.
Trespassing and vandalism are the most frequent problems, as well as late night parties and off- leash dogs. Serious incidents would not be dealt with by this person, but reported to police and documented. Duties would include:
- Regularly patrolling LBA common areas - including the 5 beaches, community garden, Beach 5 peninsula - and the community in general and provide the LBA Manager a basic report for each shift regarding any encounters while on duty.
- Become a familiar presence in the community with a non-confrontational, but firm presence and develop good relationships with Mason District police.
- Check for current beach tags (which are required for anyone on common property year-round). Summer months are busiest, when this person would be working closely with lifeguards who are on duty at 5 beaches in the community. This person would need to check beaches primarily before or after lifeguards go off-duty, however, as that is when issues arise (dogs off leash, trespassing, etc.)
- Would work closely with LBA board members responsible for community security, water safety and security and LBA Manager, including providing reports on any incidents.
- This person would also become familiar with our local infrastructure (gardens, lifeguard towers, benches, stairs, paths, etc.) and report any problems or potential dangers. This would be a secondary duty, working with current staff and the LBA board member responsible for maintenance.
If you or someone you know is interested and qualified for this position, please email a cover letter and resume to our LBA manager: lbamanager@lakebarcroft.org.
